On April 14, 2010 in Beijing time, an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 occurred in Yushu county, Yushu Tibetan autonomous prefecture in Qinghai province, which caused at least 2,698 dead, 270 missing, and 12,135 injured. The Chinese government and Chinese people's liberation army launched a rescue operation.
