China's public security industry badly needs a new Digital Trunking standard with proprietary intellectual property rights, suitable for the digitalized transformation of the domestic public security analog system. In this case, joining with some domestic enterprises and scientific research units with the R&D ability in the field of professional wireless communication and taking the digital trunking standards of Europe and the United States for reference, the Science and Technology Information Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security formulated the Digital Trunking standard with our country's proprietary intellectual property rights—Police Digital Trunking, PDT for short. In November 2011, the Science and Technology Information Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security released to the public security systems of the whole country the notice that The Overall Technical Specification for the Police Digital Trunking Communication System, and requested them to implement it accordingly.
PDT standard is a brand-new digital trunking system, injected with Chinese manufacturers’ independent innovation factors according to China's national conditions. PDT standard has advantages including large coverage area, encryption and decryption of domestic encryption algorithm, factory system connectivity, analog system of backward compatibility, simple technology and low cost, etc. Based on the public security police requirements, PDT will be gradually used in other industries and will be created to be one of the world's mainstream digital trunkings with our effort.
